Did You Stamp 2-Day?

Hi Everyone!

Posted by: wendygroszki on: February 3, 2011

I know that i’ve lost most of my followers due to my inactivity, as well as website add’y change (dropped my web host and lost domain name). I’ve been out of the stamping world for a few years…so much has changed. Went back to my career I had before kids, had another baby, and am now ready to get back to some stamping! I cannot promise regular blog posts, but i’ll try to post something occasionally! And maybe someday i’ll have a few blog followers again. :) If anyone is reading this, thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoy some of my older creations!

I am also going to try my hand with Stampin’ Up!’s My Digital Studio, so I can share my scrapbook pages as well!

Figuring out a new blog…bear with me!

Posted by: wendygroszki on: June 5, 2009

Hi everyone, yes, it’s been forever since i’ve posted. Life has been good, but very busy with work and keeping up with daily life with 2 toddlers! I have had very little “creative” time to stamp…hopefully someday soon i’ll be able to get back into it!

I’ve switched my blog over to a free blog host, so i’m working out the bugs. Hopefully I can get this figured out! So bear with me as I test a few features out on the new blog (including how to actually USE the new one…)

I hope everyone is doing well! I miss visiting your blogs on a regular basis!

Butterflies (original title, huh?)

Posted by: wendygroszki on: January 13, 2009

butterflies-Jan-09-CLOSEUPShort and Sweet today, here’s another card I made over the weekend…I just bought this huge Inkadinkadoo set of stamps from Costco and had to use them…here’s the details:

Cardstock colors: chocolate chip, purely pomegranate, kraft, very vanilla.  Patterned paper:  My Mind’s Eye, Laundry Line “Flirty Lil Girl”.  I stamped the raised butterfly in pomegranate, covered it with versamark, and heat embossed it with iridescent ice EP.  I added some distressing with my good ole’ fingernails, paper pierced the edges of the Kraft, and added some more distressing with sponge dauber and spritzing tool (appricot appeal, creamy caramel)

Gotta run, i’m taking the girls to a dinner music show (kids music) at a local restaurant…so it’ll be a fun filled evening with a restaurant full of screaming kids and chaos!  :)

Sweet N’ Sassy

sugar-nellie-sweet-n-sassy-CLOSEUP

Hi!  I had a chance to do some stamping last night, Yay!  I recently moved my stamping space down into our unfinished basement, so that I could spread out and not worry about the mess.  I was originally in our office, which is right inside the front door…and the french doors didn’t allow me to hide my mess!  Not to mention there just wasn’t enough table space/storage space!  It was convenient, but the mess drove me nuts!  So now, i’m all laid out over 4 tables, one bookshelf (just for SU stamps), two coffee tables, and an IKEA dresser! :)  I’ll take a picture or two when I get a chance.  I’m one of those people that can be really messy when creating, but cannot work when it’s too messy.  Make any sense?  This means that I just need a lot of table space to spread out!

The one dilemma I have with working in the basement…spiders.  We’ve been getting a few wolf spiders (have you seen those suckers, they’re HUGE and YUCKY!).  We’ve had pest control spray and treat the house and basement, but I still get nervous about sticking my hands inside any containers just in case!  I have a serious phobia of spiders…hehe, one night I made the mistake of googling these spiders to see how bad they are (i.e. do they bite)…big mistake to do this just before bed!

Ok, on to my card for today (actually, I made TWO cards last night.  I’ll post the other one later this week).  I used one of my Sugar Nellie images (Sweet Ebony Honey & Pip by Elisabeth Bell) that I had colored already ( I have about 20 images waiting for cards!)  I colored her with copic markers, did a little stitching with embroidery thread, and ruffled up some ribbon around the image to create a frame.  Once again, the color is a bit muted, the blue is much richer in person.  I wish I could figure out why it does this when I upload it to my blog…

Sugar-Nellie-Sweet-N-Sassy

Recipe:

Stamp set: Sweet N’ Sassy (Sugar Nellie, by Elisabeth Bell) and Inkadinkadoo set for greeting (not sure which one, got a huge pack of them at Costco)

Ink: Ranger Adirondack pitch black, various copic markers, Night Of Navy

Paper: PTI stampers select white, Night of Navy, Bo Bunny “summer cottage pottery” paper

Accessories: Blue and gold embroidery thread, crafters toolkit (paper piercer/mat and needle), curly label punch, 1″ circle punch, buttons sizzix dies for the striped circle behind the greeting (not sure of name, got it from SU), half-pearls (martha stewart), ribbon (from LSS…not sure of brand) pop-up glue dots.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone had a very happy holidays!  Happy New Year!

I’m not sure if anyone is still following my blog, i’ve been gone for so long (sorry!)…but if you’re still here, I have a card to share.  I didn’t get many opportunities to stamp…ok, I did have some free time, but I have to admit that my husband’s new wii game Mario Kart (OMG, it is sooo fun!) took up a lot of my free time this past week…it was a refreshing change of pace because I normally don’t like video games.  Then both girls got sick, so we rang in the new year with coughing/miserable toddlers.  Now that it’s monday and DH is back to work, we’re all getting back to normal! :)

Anywhoo…you guys didn’t come here to hear me babble, you guys want some eye candy, right?  Here’s the one card I did get to make last week, using a beautiful Sarah Kay image, “Margaux is Painting”.  I used copics to color her in, and a bunch of miscellanous supplies that I don’t have a list for right now (sorry!).  I’ll update with a supply list later…

sarah-kay-margot-painting

Once again, i’ve edited my photo in Photoshop Elements, saved for web as a png file….all colors look great until I upload it here.  Geez, I give up!  If anyone has any idea why my colors get muted when I upload to my blog, i’d love to hear from you!

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Merry Christmas!

Posted by: wendygroszki on: December 25, 2008

Hi everyone,

I have had absolutely no time to stamp,  but i’m sure that many of you have been in the same boat.   Too many things to do for Christmas…shopping, wrapping, baking, cleaning, etc…isn’t it supposed to be a holiday?  :)   This is our first year having to put together toys for the girls…and oh, my is that a lot of work!  But i’m super excited to see their faces as they come downstairs and see what Santa has brought them!

I’m hoping to get some stamping done over the holidays, since my husband will be home…so hopefully i’ll have some stuff to share soon! :)

I just wanted to hop on here and wish everyone a Merry Christmas…and Happy Holidays!

Blogger’s Challenge #77

Posted by: wendygroszki on: December 12, 2008

BC77-ornament-closeup

I’m back!  Sorry that i’ve been MIA from the challenges the past few weeks, it’s been difficult to find the time to stamp with my 2 year old’s nap time gone out the window.  And my evening free time has been thwarted by both girls fighting bedtime…My 1 year old didn’t fall asleep until 10 tonight.  If it’s not one, it’s the other!  They tag-team me all day…such is life with irish twins!

OK, enough of my babble…

This week’s challenge was to create a holiday decoration or ornament…and I found THIS awesome medallion tutorial by our own Lynn Mercurio…well, I actually found the tutorial through Jan Tink’s blog (scroll down, the card is toward the bottom), as she had case’d Amy over at Pickled Paper Designs…so, you see…a lot of blog-hopping found my way to this awesome tutorial!  I just went the long way around…

I thought that the medallion would make a perfect ornament. When I started to create the medallion, I have to say, that at first I was stumped.  But I when I did finally have that “a-ha!” moment, I was embarassed at how easy it was!  Now, I did end up making one modification…I unfolded the back flaps down and glued them down, causing the medallion to turn convex (curves away from me).  I wanted it that way so that I could hang the angel better.

Here’s what I came up with (please excuse that I didn’t shade the angel at all when coloring…I got sidetracked and forgot, and well…it’s too late to fix it right now!  If I have time, I may do it tomorrow, because it will bug me if I don’t! ) :

BC77-ornament-on-tree

RECIPE:

Stamp Set: Lily – Angelface (Rachelle Anne Miller by Stampavie)

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Various copic markers (R59, Y19, YR07, R27, G17)

Paper: Oh Joy by Cosmo Cricket (oh, do I LOVE this stuff!), PTI Stampers Select white

Accessories: White fibers by EK Success, snowflake buttons (Jesse James & Co “Dress it Up”), pearls by martha stewart, clear atyou spica glitter pen (Copic), Cinnamon Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels)

What I did: Follow the tutorial HERE for the medallion fold, and look at the sampes if you can’t quite figure it out…it’s easier than you think!  I created a larger medallion by using 4″ x 4″ squares instead fo the suggested 2″ squares.  After I finished the medallion, as I mentioned above, I unfolded the backs and glued them down, causing the medallion to curve backward.  This also closed the gaps between the peaks.  I sprayed some glimmer mist on the patterned paper, giving it a slight shimmer.  For the angel, I was planning on covering her in enamel so I didn’t shade her…but then I decided not to go that route at the last minute and forgot to go back and do the shading…but I did add some glitter to her wings and the ruffles of her dress with a clear atyou spica pen (I love these things…), hard to tell in my pictures.  The snowflake in the middle and at the top are both buttons (from Michaels, found them over by the jewelry stuff…).  I think that’s it! :)

Well, I gotta run…it’s getting late, and I have 2 early birds!  Looking forward to blog-hopping tomorrow!  I’m sure there are going to be some AMAZING creations by the blogger’s challenge ladies this week….for anyone needing a little holiday inspiration, check them out!  The link is in my sidebar!

Whiff of Joy…

WOJ-Dec-DTCall-Closeup

Hi everyone!  I’m back!  Most of my stamp stuff is down in the basement now, ready to go (whew, that was a lot of work moving it all!)  All I need now is better lighting and a comfy chair, and i’m all set!  I had some time to stamp today (finally!) and boy, did it feel good!

I decided to create a card for the guest designer call over at Whiff of Joy...it’s open until this evening (yeah, i’m cutting it kinda close!).  You can find out more info about the call HERE.  Whiff of Joy is one of my favorites…and it would be such an honor to work with their design team, even if it’s only for a few months.  It’s a long shot (there are a LOT of good stampers entered)…but it doesn’t hurt to try, does it? :)

EDITED:  WELL, APPARENTLY I MISSED THE DEADLINE.  READ THE TIME WRONG.  OH, WELL…

They wanted everyone to design a card with the following sketch:

WOJ sketch Dec

And here’s my card, using Angel Charlotte.  I colored her with copics, then decided to make her all flashy and sparkly for Christmas.  I added some Crystal Effects and stickles to Charlotte’s dress, hair and wings, heat embossed some snowflakes over the swirly paper with iridescent ice EP, and created a yellow glow behind her.  All angels should glow, shouldn’t they? :) I had a hard time getting a good picture this afternoon because it was so dreary outside (it’s snowing!!)…this is the best I could do.

WOJ-Dec-GDT-call

RECIPE:

Here’s what I used…i’m going to be quick today, i’ll add more detail later (after we get dinner and the girls off to bed):

Stamps: Whiff of Joy’s Angel Charlotte, SU stamp for greeting (forgot which one…i’ll check and update later)

Ink: Various copic markers (R27, R59, E77, E79, C1, N3, E00, RV23, Y17), Adirondack Pitch Black, Stazon (for greeting), Encore gold, Summer Sun (glow behind Charlotte), Versamark.

Paper/cardstock: Wassail (Basic Grey), Always Artichoke, Real Red, Gold, Chocolate Chip, Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White

Accessories: Felt snowflake (SU, colored with gold encore), white fibers by EK Success

Tools: Iridescent ice EP, Crystal Effects, red stickles, diamond stickles, gold stickles, heat tool

Thanks for stopping by! :)

I don’t have a card to share today…but I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Also – I will be taking a break from the blog for the rest of this week because we’re having company, and i’m in the middle of moving my craft room into the basement….but i’ll be back!  :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Blogger’s Challenge #74…”giving thanks”

Posted by: wendygroszki on: November 21, 2008

BC97-smaller-closeup

Hi!  This week’s challenge was to create a card or project with a “giving thanks” theme.  The first thing that came to mind is a Journal of Thanks. I’m going to use it during 2009 to write all the little things that I am thankful for on a daily basis.  Like I have on the cover…it’s the little things that we need to be thankful for, the things that we often take for granted in our daily lives.  I have a lot to be thankful for…but sometimes I can lose sight of that on a daily basis.  So i’m hoping that this project will help keep me more focused and grateful for what I have!

I have a pile of things to be altered, including a few of these neat little journals.  The journal has 12 tabs, so it was perfect for this idea.  I’m not really good at altering items…I haven’t altered many things so far (i’m a newbie), and to top it off, I really don’t have the supplies and embellishments needed to make an awesome design.  I found that out this week when trying to finish this project!  And one thing that I found that i’m lacking in, are Thanksgiving-themed and fall-themed items (stamps, embellishments, etc)  I’m happy with the end results of this book, but i’m not crazy about it…  Oh, well! :) bc74-frontUPDATED

I created a shaker window out of the window in the book.  I used an SU clear envelope and covered the front of the window, under the paper, and adhered the stamped image to the back.  I filled the middle with silver micro beads (also SU).  Then I used a rub-on “it’s the little things” on the top of the window, from the Anchored SU set, which I thought was fitting…and all the little micro beads represent the “little things”!  Clever, huh? ;)

I outlined the window with ribbon, and used some little beads (from Michaels) in the corners.  I distressed the edges of the red frame.   I knotted the green ribbon with some kraft taffeta (SU) ribbon and attached it over the edge of the doily lace punch (Martha Stewart).  Then I put some more beads inside the scallops.  For the stamped image (Fresh Cuts by SU), I stamped the entire thing in so saffron, then used a sponge dauber and rubbed kiwi kiss and riding hood red on various spots right on the rubber.  Here are some more photos:

See the beads…now they’re at the top.  Gosh, it’s hard to get a good photo of this thing! :)

bc74-beads-at-top

And here’s the inside.  I have a cover page (i’m not crazy about it, but it’ll work), and tabs for each month.  There are three double-sided lined sheets in between each tab. And i’m not going to bother decorating the pages on each tab…I may create a calendar page to put on them, but I didn’t have time for that this week (we have had a rough week with naps, sleeping…).

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Fresh Cuts (SU), Every Day Blessing (PTI), Rough Edges Alphabet

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bravo Burgandy, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, So Saffron

Paper: Fancy Pants “Crush”, Fancy Pants “Aged Florals”, Basic Gray Wassail, WeRMemory Keepers “Precious Metals”…yup, I used a variety!  Journal Cards…I think they are Fancy Pants also.

Accessories: Doily Edge Punch (Martha Stewart), misc. ribbon, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon (SU), misc. pearls (Michael’s brand), Anchored Rub Ons (SU), Clear Envelope (SU), Bungalow “You are my sunshine” transperency frame (My Mind’s Eye), silver micro beads (SU), sponge dauber, distress tool (SU), sticky strip, tombow adhesive, snail adhesive

Everyone have a great weekend!  I’m hoping to get some stamping done (it’s my birthday tomorrow, and that would be a great present…to get a little time to “play” with my stamps!).

sugar-nellie-flower-for-you-11.08-closeup

Something my 2 year old has NOT been this week!  :)   But I love her just the same…

I’m going to be brief, otherwise i’ll never get this card posted.  I created it a few nights back (and colored it about a week ago, while my husband and I were catching up on a little tv).  Things here have been crazy…life with two toddlers can be very challenging, and this week we’ve had a REALLY bad case of the terrible 2′s.  And the terrible 1′s.  And no naps.  Temper tantrums.  Need I say more? :)  Just trying to keep my sanity here…

Ok, for my card this time…I used one of my new Sugar Nellie stamps, this one designed by the amazing Elisabeth Bell (they’re in the category “Sweet Art Ebony:  Honey & Pip”).  These stamps can be bought online at Funky Kits (it’s the only online store that sells them…) and they ship worldwide at a really reasonable rate.  I could just color and color and color these images (I now own 7) and be as happy as could be…hehehe…you mean I actually have to make them into something when i’m done?  Can’t I just keep stacking up colored images?  :)   Shoot…not sure if I have enough time for that!

sugar-nellie-flower-for-you-11.08

Recipe: I’m not going to give much info tonight.  I don’t know where the ribbon came from, and forgot to keep the patterned paper name.  Cardstock is Papertrey Ink, Ink is Adirondack Pitch Black, colored with copic markers, cardstock colors are Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant, and Summer Sun.  Dew drops on the polka dot layer, filagree brad from SU, threaded through the ribbon (both ends of the ribbon came from the back and up through the middle, and I tied a knot on the top of the brad.)

G’nite! :)  Thanks for stopping by!

And you spammers out there…quit leaving junk comments on my blog! (like they’re gonna listen…)

Blogger’s Challenge #73…

Posted by: wendygroszki on: November 14, 2008

bc73A-detail

Hi everyone!  Yes, i’ve been MIA yet again…  I assure you, i’ve been busy working on stuff…mostly working on my coloring techniques with the copic markers (i’m having a hard time putting them down….).  During the day, it’s easier for me to color than it is to get away to my craft room.  I can keep a clipboard and a set of markers out of my girls’ hands so much easier! :)  So, now I have a backlog of images that i’ve colored that are just waiting to be made into cards!  I’m hoping that I can get a good chunk of time this weekend to do just that!  And then I can post projects more often than once a week on here!

I really don’t know how all those daily bloggers do it…this is so much work!  Not only do you need lots of time to stamp and create, but you have to take photos, edit photos, upload photos, and then put it all together in a blog post!  And with WordPress, that’s not an easy feat!   So BIG kudos to all of you bloggers who post on a regular basis!  I applause you and all of the hard work that you do!

Ok, enough of my complaining…here’s some proof that i’ve been working hard!  Here are some of the images i’ve been working on.  Oh, and I just received a bunch of Sugar Nellie stamps (by Elisabeth Bell) that I am TOTALLY in LOVE with…they are sooooo stinkin’ cute!  I’ve already colored two…you’ll see them in the bunch below (little girl planting flowers and little girl holding watering can and flower, top left):

Copic-coloring-in-progress

On to today’s Blogger’s Challenge...it’s a color challenge this time:  Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla or Whisper White (I chose Vanilla).  I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to make a baby card for a good friend of mine who just had a little baby boy…and I thought what would be more perfect than a bib-card?  Ok, well…here’s my take on the “Bib” card…I hope you like it!  (ok, my husband just mentioned that this picture makes it look like a cookie…oh, well!)

bc73a-front

And if you open up the front, here’s what the first inside layer looks like (because I love to add sparkle to everything, i’ve embossed the stars and the birds and greeting with iridescent ice EP):

bc73A-inside

I added another page behind this one so that I could write a little note without having to worry about getting in the way of the image.   I didn’t add any stamping to this page, just lots of room to write!

bc73A-inside-page-2

And here’s a picture of it in different light…it’s a dreary, rainy day here, so I hung it up on my kitchen cabinets and turned on all the lights!  It sure was difficult to get a good picture of this thing!

BC73A-straight-shot

Recipe:

Stamp Sets (all SU! this time): Zoofari, Nursery Necessities, Polka dot background

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Versamark

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Small Star punch, wide oval punch, eyelets, crop-a-dile, coluzzle, a retired corner punch – not sure of the name (it’s retired SU!), iridescent ice EP, clear EP, heat tool, chocolate chip taffeta ribbon, sticky strip

What I did: I used the largest coluzzle circle for the outside (laying it over the folded edge), and the next size in for the inside pieces.  I just layered a piece of cardstock as a hinge between the middle layer and the back to turn it into a little book. The middle page w/ the birds is actually two layers (the underside is chocolate chip).

I used versamark and iridescent ice EP on the stars and on the birds, and also over top of the “welcome, little one”.  I also clear embossed the polka dots.  For the edge of the bib, I used the retired corner punch (don’t know it’s name), but I took off the corner guide, and used a 12×2 piece of paper and just punched all the way down.  Then I went back with paper snips and cut slits 3/4 of the way through after each group, so that I could curve it.  Then I covered the back with another chocolate chip layer.

Ok, did any of that make sense? :)

If you have some time, go check out the work of the other Blogger’s Challenge participants…i’m sure that they’ve created some awesome stuff!  The link is in my sidebar.

Have a great weekend!

Blogger’s Challenge #72…same…but different….

Posted by: wendygroszki on: November 7, 2008

bc72-combined-closeup

Well, I almost didn’t make it! After a week of colds, fevers, teeting, late nights and little sleep…let’s just say it’s been a loooooong week!  I woke up today not even started on the challenge.  However, all the cards were in my favor.  Both girls gave me a few hours while they napped (yay, it’s the first good nap session since Monday!), so I RAN into my craft room to work as fast as I could!  I was so sure that I wasn’t going to make it…two cards?  Fast?  Hehehe, that’s SO not me!  I’m a slowpoke!

[edited later, after publishing this post:  forgot to mention what the challenge was!  Oops!  This week, we're supposed to create something the same, but different...we could use either the same stamps and different layouts, or different stamps and the same layout.]

To make things a little easier on me, and stack the odds more in my favor of actually finishing today, I used a sketch challenge (see image below) over at Whiff of Joy Challenge Blog, fully intending one of my cards to use a Whiff of Joy stamp.  I drew it on another piece of paper and headed into my craft room…and then totally forgot about the Whiff of Joy thing, and decided to use an image I started coloring last night, from Pink Cat Studios (Lily and Tweet Plate 1). Oh, well!  It got me to finish today’s challenge, which is what’s important!

Sketch Challenge #7:

WOJsketch

I decided to do two cards with the same layout, same paper, and different styles of stamps.  The first card with Lily and Tweet is a fun, cutesy Christmas time card.  The second card, I wanted to have a more elegant Christmas theme, so I used Christ is Born (Stampin’ Up!).  Both cards used the new Basic Grey Wassail paper…oh, my…that is some GORGEOUS paper!  I didn’t want to cut any of it, but I had to make a card for today, huh? :)

bc72-both-cards

Card #1:

bc72-card-1

Card #2: Can you see the sparkle in this one?  I have such a hard time catching sparkle with my camera…

bc72-card-2

RECIPE:

Stamp Sets:

Card #1 Lily and Tweet (Pink Cat Studios), and Best Yet (Stampin’ Up!) for the greeting

Card #2: Christ is Born (Stampin’ Up!)

Cardstock/Paper: Neenah white, Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Gold, Wassail by Basic Grey

Ink:

Card #1: Brilliance Ink, various colors copic markers, Riding Hood Red (greeting), Gold Encore (edging of image), always artichoke (edging of starburst paper and green paper).

Card #2: Gold Encore, Riding Hood Red, Versamark

Accessories: Felt Snowflakes (SU!), Bling (Heidi Swapp), dimensionals, embossing powder, heat tool, glassy glaze enamel, irridescent ice EP.

What I did  (that isn’t obvious): For card #2, the background was stamped in gold encore and heat set. Then I covered the sheet in irridescent ice EP.  (the edges were supposed to be edged with gold, but I forgot and stuck it down and couldn’t get it back up….so pretend they’re gold!).  The red flower was stamped in versamark then Riding Hood Red ink and stamped.  I covered in glassy glaze enamel and heated it…and while it was still hot, I added a little more glassy glaze and re-heated.  Then I cut it out, curled the tips, and used dimensionals.

If you have some time…go check out the other entries for this week’s Blogger’s Challenge!  Just click the “Blogger’s Challenge” link in my sidebar!

Have a wonderful weekend!  And thanks for stopping by!

My first Magnolia

Posted by: wendygroszki on: November 5, 2008

My-first-Magnolia-closeup

I’m going to keep this relatively short because i’m sick with a cold, and also have a sick 1yo (she’s sleeping now…thank goodness, because she was up half the night!  Edit:   She woke up halfway through my post…).

I received my FIRST!!  Magnolia stamps earlier this week and they are AWESOME!!!  So fun to color! :)  Now that i’ve had my Copic markers for about a month, i’m starting to really get comfortable with them…I still have a lot to learn, though!  But i’m enjoying every minute of it! :)

For this card, I started by working with a challenge over at the new Magnolia vs Stampavie challenge blog, with this sketch:

But I didn’t have a circle cutter large enough for the card I wanted, so I improvised…and I ended up getting off track, but that’s ok!  Sometimes creativity takes you in another direction…the sketch was a great springboard, though!

Ok, here’s my card…I hope I did these stamps justice (you can click on it for a larger view if you want to see my coloring better)!

My-first-magnolia

And here’s the inside…I added a small card underneath the clip, for an additional little note.  I’m not sure if you can see, but the white has an embossed frame…my camera doesn’t like the inside of cards, for some reason! (it’s probably user error…)

My-first-magnolia-inside

RECIPE:

Stamp set:  Tilda with Sunflower (Magnolia), Floral Whimsy, for greeting (Verve)

Ink: Brilliance Black, close to cocoa (for edging and sponging), Real Red and Chocolate Chip markers for the greeting, various colors Copic Markers (see one of my earlier posts for a list of colors I own)

Paper/Cardstock: Real Red textured cardstock, More mustard, Neenah White, unknown DSP

Accessories: Hodgepodge hardware (SU!), ribbon and prima flowers from unknown sources, button and embroydery thread (CTMH), rhinestone bling (heidi swapp), crafters toolkit (paper piercing tool, mat, template, needle), sponge dauber, linen thread, clear embossing powder, heat tool (i’m still not good at keeing the ink from bleeding over the edges, so I find that embossing really helps!)

Have a great day!  And thank you so much for visiting my blog!  :)

Riding into the sunset…

Posted by: wendygroszki on: November 2, 2008

High-Hopes-Candace-Quilt

Oh, did I have fun coloring this one!  I played around with my copic markers, blending some unusual color combinations to make the image really pop.  I’m really happy with the results.  I mentioned unusual color combinations…for example, her hat was colored with brown AND blue…her hair is a blend of reds and browns…and the gray horse even has some blue.  And the sunset is blended with yellows, reds, and browns to give a marbled look.  I won’t go into details on what’s proper and what’s not for coloring with copics…I’m just doing my own thing, learning as I go!  :)

I didn’t list the specific colors I used, but i’m working with a limited supply of copic markers, since I only have about 30 markers so far (the list is in an earlier post HERE).  So I don’t have too many choices per color family!  (so far, anyway!)

For the card, I used some retired SU! paper (Western Sky) and cut them into 2″x2″ squares.  I then scattered them into a quilt-like pattern and glued them to Not Quite Navy cardstock.  I trimmed around the edges to give it a matte.  I used my crafter’s toolkit piercing template, mat, and tool to poke the holes for my stitching, using the linen thread to stitch the little X’s.  I used jumbo eyelets and the cropadile for threading the rope (in SU’s holiday mini catalog)…the DSP I used on the left edge is from unknown sources…I had already cut off the strip with the name…

And a quick note about the photo…I’m still trying to figure out Photoshop Elements.  I am soooo frustrated with it, I could spit!  I tried taking the photo in an area of the house with more light, and I wanted to blur the background a little.  Well, two hours later, I have given up, and so I just cropped the photo really close and hope that the background isn’t too busy!  One of these years i’ll figure out how to take a good photo!
